Challenge Heaven April

I managed to get a couple more Layouts done in April, this was for Challenge Heaven's Themed Challenge – using a photo of an everyday moment,
Criteria: Use a candid photo.

This is a photo of my oldest son when he was little watching his Dad do his hair. He was fascinated with anything his Dad did, he just loved to be with him (still does!). I've used Echo Park's Little Boy range (LOVE these papers!!!) and Dotted Swiss cardstock. I've been wanting to use the alphabet beads for ages on a LO, I think they look good.

All been a bit sick here, so hoping to get it together soon. So much to do, so little time!

He is risen!

Someone born ALONG time before me, loved me enough to die for me, so I could be reconciled to my Holy Father. And he died for you to.

But if Easter was just about Friday it wouldn't be a celebration.

He's alive. The empty tomb changed everything.

Oh happy day!

Colour Challenge April

School holidays are upon us, as well as Easter, so scrapbooking has gone out the window the last couple of weeks. I did go along for a day with the Northside Scrappers and this was one of the pages I did.

It's for Challenge Heaven for the Colour challenge was Light blue, pumpkin + 1 colour of your choice (small amounts of black and white may be used), Criteria: Use a butterfly.
Orange & blue are opposite each other on the colour wheel so they look great together. Thankfully I had some papers from Kaisercraft, that were just the right colours. They were very bright so I decided to tone down with white. I made the flowers using layered circles and by making spirals out of the of cuts. I'm really happy with the result, orange is always a challenge for me since it's not a favourite colour!

I've been cleaning up my scrapping room, so hopefully I'll get motivated to do some more!
xx Vanessa.

Challenge Heaven March

Since getting into scrapbooking the biggest problem I've found (besides not spending too much money!), is knowing where to start. My oldest son is nearly 11 so that's a lot of photos to go back to scrap! What I found helped was Challenge Heaven. Each month they have different challenges, I've found it easier to go back through my photos and find ones that fit the challenge I want to do.

This Layout is for the May Colour Challenge which was Red and Blue (small amounts of black and white may be used) and the extra Criteria: love heart. I couldn't get my brain around it initially because my first thought was to do a page with a white background with red & blue touches. But one of the things I love about challenge websites is the inspiration you get from other people's Layouts. Cathy Cafun is one of my favourite scrapbookers. I don't know her personally but I love everything she does! This LO she did showed me you could do a page with very little white and it look good. I was also inspired by a sketch from Scrapbook Memories by Tammy Milborn.

I love this precious photo of my boys. Even though it was over 6 years ago, I still remember it well. My oldest was singing his baby brother a funny little song. These are the things I want to remember forever.
Keep blossoming!

Sorry

Well hello. Did you miss me?
Why haven't I been blogging? Well I chose not to.
Last year I just felt overwhelmed with stuff to do. My kids were at school full time for the first time ever. I had stuff I wanted to do. I was trying to lose weight and get healthier. I took over leading the Women's committee at my church. I started scrapbooking. Something had to give and it was you.
So how did it go? Okay. Was losing weight, my fitness improved ALOT. But I started getting foot pains until I was struggling to walk let alone exercise. The culprit, Tendinitis in 3 tendons in my foot. I've had to rest it ALOT, for months. I'm finally starting to see an improvement.
No kids at home meant lots of time to clean and declutter. I'm doing pretty good on that front except my sewing pile and recipe pile still need lots of work. We've also repainted most of our house, so it's looking good.
My husband has worked away a lot more so that's been challenging but the kids and I have coped pretty well. I think my new hobby has helped me through.

I tried scrapbooking years ago and enjoyed it, but struggled with time (& enthusiasm) when I had 3 littlies under 5. So when I went along to a friends house to do some just over a year ago, I rediscovered how much I enjoyed it. I really love the story telling (journalling) aspect of it. How you're preserving a photo and the memory of a special moment. So now I'm hooked! I've got my own scrapping room now, go off for scrapbooking evenings and weekends all with my partner in crime S. She's my dear friend who lives around the corner from me, our kids go to the same school, we attend the same church and our hubbies are good mates!

She's probably the biggest thing that has happened in my life in the last year. We've had lots of great friends but I don't think we've had any REALLY close friends since when we were first married. We talk everyday (usually 2 or 3 times a day), see each other everyday and even though we don't have everything in common, we have an awful lot. And she encourages me and makes me feel good about myself. What a great friend!

So I'm going to try blog more (can't make any promises though!), It might have a bit more scrapbooking stuff on it, because I love it! The creative element was missing in my life, I need to do artistic things to be happy!
